Six people — including three children — were taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after a Prince George’s county fire truck en route to a fire crashed with a Jeep Liberty in the Bladensburg area, authorities said.

After a season in which two Maryland football players were injured in separate campus motor scooter accidents, new football Coach Randy Edsall has said players are no longer allowed to ride them around campus, according to Maryland’s student newspaper.

The article, though well written, did not address with enough emphasis the failure of the emergency management teams of the District, Virginia and Maryland. I drove through all three areas last Wednesday, making a 7 1/2-hour round trip, and I believe the major problem was not the snow, road conditions, abandoned cars, stopped buses or accidents but the inability of the police, or whoever is responsible for traffic coordination, to move major traffic out of Washington.

The man who was killed when a Maryland State Police trooper hit him with an SUV Wednesday nigth has been identified as Buhrman K. Baird, 88, of the 24000 block of Old Hollywood Road.
